NaturePhotoGear.com (“we”, “us”, “this site”) publishes gear reviews, buying guides, and field guides for nature photographers. This policy explains what information we collect when you visit, why we collect it, and what choices you have.

Information we collect
Information you give us
If you leave a comment, we collect the name, email address, and any website address you enter in the comment form, along with the content of your comment and your IP address. This is used to display the comment and to help detect spam. If you contact us by email, we retain that correspondence so we can respond to it.
Information collected automatically
Like most websites, our server records standard technical information each time a page is requested: IP address, browser type and version, operating system, referring page, and the time of the request.
We use Google Analytics to understand which guides people find useful and how visitors reach the site. Google Analytics sets cookies and collects usage data in aggregate. We do not use it to identify individual visitors. You can opt out across all sites using the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.
We use Google Search Console, which reports on how the site performs in Google Search. It does not collect personal information about individual visitors.
Cookies
Cookies are small text files stored by your browser. This site uses them for basic site function, for caching and performance, for analytics as described above, and for advertising as described below. How we use your information
We use the information described above to operate and secure the site, to publish and moderate comments, to respond to messages you send us, to understand which content is useful so we can write more of it, and to earn affiliate and advertising revenue that funds the site. We do not sell your personal information.
How long we keep it
Comments and their metadata are retained indefinitely so that follow-up replies can be recognized and displayed rather than held for moderation. Server logs are retained on a rolling basis for security and troubleshooting. Analytics data is retained according to Google’s retention settings.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to request a copy of the personal data we hold about you, to request that we correct or erase it, to object to or restrict how we process it, and to withdraw consent where processing is based on consent. Residents of California have the right to know what personal information is collected and to request its deletion, and the right not to be discriminated against for exercising those rights. We do not sell personal information as that term is defined under California law.

Children
This site is intended for a general audience and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us and we will delete it.

Our guides link to other websites, including retailers and manufacturers. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those sites. We encourage you to read the privacy policy of any site you visit.
Security
This site is served over HTTPS. We take reasonable measures to protect information, but no method of transmission or storage over the internet is completely secure.
